Go Back & Fetch What Was Lost

Sankofia is grounded in the Akan principle of Sankofa — returning to reclaim identity, land, legacy, and true self-determination.

Sovereign Self-Governance

A chartered autonomous zone under a 99-year renewable concession. Host nations retain ultimate sovereignty while Sankofia exercises full internal administration, courts, tax, and banking authority.

Economic Independence

Supported by resource-for-infrastructure partnerships, diaspora capital, U.S. development finance, and institutional banking — creating generational wealth and self-determination.

A Permanent Sanctuary

Designed as a self-sustaining homeland and economic engine for Foundational Black Americans, with dual citizenship so pioneers never lose their U.S. status.

Governance Model

Strong founding leadership with built-in checks, balances, and a clear path to elected self-rule.

Founding Era

  • 40 Acre Trust serves as perpetual guardian of the Charter.
  • Founder leads as Head of the Founding Administration to ensure the vision is protected while institutions are built.
  • A Zone Authority manages day-to-day administration, utilities, courts, and finance.
  • Parliament is established early to provide legislative oversight and advice.

Transition to Self-Rule

  • Fixed timetable written into the Charter for transition to an elected Foundational Black American government.
  • Independent judiciary and international arbitration (ICSID) protect both Sankofia and the host nation.
  • No personal monarchy or permanent personal rule — continuity without creating a fiefdom.
  • Host nation always retains defense and foreign affairs.

Citizenship & Eligibility

Founded for Foundational Black Americans — Americans who can trace their lineage to persons enslaved in the United States.

Dual

Citizenship

Sankofian citizenship is additive. Pioneers retain full U.S. citizenship.

Priority

Pioneer Skills

Early land titles and professional posts prioritized for engineers, medical professionals, builders, farmers, educators, and tradespeople.

Partners

Host Nationals

Never displaced. Full partners through shared infrastructure, employment, training, and a dedicated Host Community Fund.

Founding Charter & Constitution

The Republic of Sankofia operates under a host-country Charter Act that grants autonomous administration, commercial and civil legal code, independent courts, tax and customs authority, and banking powers — while the host retains national sovereignty, defense, and foreign affairs.

Core Principles

  • 99-year renewable land concession with international arbitration protection
  • 40 Acre Trust as perpetual guardian of the founding vision
  • Founder-led transitional administration with fixed sunset clauses
  • Early establishment of Parliament for checks and balances
  • Mandatory transition to elected FBA citizen government
  • Dual citizenship and non-displacement of host communities
  • Transparent finance and resource-for-infrastructure model

Full constitutional text is currently in final drafting and will be published here upon completion of legal review.

Host Nation Partnership

Sankofia is designed to operate in any West African nation that enacts a Charter Act. The first nation to sign becomes the Home Country.
